From a dream to reality. . . 2000-2001
- August 2000 - First ethanol plant planning meeting at Castlewood Steakhouse
- September 2000 - GLCP, a South Dakota Cooperative is established
with 11 board members.
- January 2001 - Bill Riechers is contracted to
provide general management services to GLCP and to manage the equity
drive.
- January 2001 - Jeff See is contracted to assist the Company
with site selection, negotiation and management of permitting,
construction contracting and related site development matters, and
to act as GLCP's construction manager.
- May 2001 - GLCP and Glacial
Lakes Capital, LLC agreed to form a limited liability company in
order to attain the necessary equity funds.
- June 2001 - GLCP holds
a membership meeting to ratify merger between GLCP and GLC. With
a near unanimous vote, Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC is formed.
- June 2001 - Hanten Industrial Park is chosen as the future plant site and
44 acres of land is purchased from Focus Watertown/Watertown Development
Company. Site excavation begins.
- July 2001 - Fagen, Inc. begins
site construction
- August 2001 - Groundbreaking with guests U.S. Rep.
John Thune, U.S. Senator Tom Daschle, U.S. Senator Tim Johnson
and Watertown Mayor Brenda Barger
- August 2001 - Glacial Lakes Energy,
LLC hires its first employee
- September 2001 - Winbco Tank Company
begins construction on field fabricated tanks.
- October 2001 - Structural
steel erection begins for the Process Building
- November 2001 - Tom Branhan is hired as the General Manager of GLE
- December 2001 - Electrical work begins
