• January 2002 - Process piping begins
• February 2002 - The Administration Building is completed and GLE staff relocates to new offices
• March 2002 - McCormick Construction begins slipping concrete grain silos
• March 2002 - Box culverts installed at water crossings for railroad spur.
• April 2002 - Thermo-Oxidizer 150 foot exhaust stack is set
• May 2002 - Centrifuges are set in Energy Center
• June 2002 - GLE operating team comes on board
• July 2002 - Control System comes on line
• July 2002 - Grain Receiving and storage area becomes ready for operation As of July 2002, construction continues with an expected start date of September 1, 2002.
• August 2002 - Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening ceremonies held with over 2000 people in attendance
• August 2002 - Cook & fermentation area started using water as a simulator
• August 21, 2002 - Grain Receiving begins accepting corn
• August 25, 2002 - Began Grinding Corn
• August 28, 2002 - First DDG produced at GLE
• August 28, 2002 - First 190 Proof Ethanol Produced at GLE
• September 11, 2002 - First railcar of ethanol shipped
• October 2, 2002 - GLE First Jumbo Car filled with 104 ton of DDG
• November 2002- Improvements are made to Grain Receiving Area
• November 2002- Fagen, Inc. completes project and moves off site
• December 2002- 30” diameter stainless steel duct is added to south side of concrete silos to dissipate any odors that might exhaust from the DDG building
• December 2002-Flare is installed to burn off odors from rail car and truck load out
• December 2002-  GLE holds its First Employee Appreciation Christmas Party
• December 2002- GLE is running at above nameplate capacity
